At Misty Morning Children’s Center we believe that Preschool is the time in life that sets the stage for a love of learning in future academic years. Children continue to develop their social, emotional, and cognitive skills in a fun, playful mixed-age environment.
Misty Morning Children’s Center curriculum is designed to meet or exceed Kindergarten entry requirements. Our teachers use a blended curriculum that uses Creative Curriculum, CT Department of Education standards for preschool (now the CT EDLS). In addition we partner with you the parent to monitor developmental milestones through the use of Ages and Stages®.
A typical day in the Misty Morning Children’s Center Primary classroom gives children an opportunity to work individually and in small groups. The children have the opportunity to work on both teacher directed and individual choice projects. Here the children lay the foundation for good self-management as each day they experience activities that help them develop skills in the areas of development that cover Personal and Social, Gross Motor Physical Skills, Cognitive Skills and Creative Expression. We also provide them with opportunities to practice their leadership skills. Children take turns leading morning circle, participating in classroom jobs, and mentoring each other on skills that one child may have already mastered. At Misty Morning Children’s Center we also believe that children learn from hands on experience and exploration as they learn about the world around them.
Formal parent teacher conferences are held twice year.
Our teachers:Our teachers are Early Childhood Professionals. Our lead teachers and our assistants meet best practice standards regarding educational degrees in Early Childhood.
